Our History

Hope Academy began as a dream and goal of the Hope Centre Mission in Toronto (a cross-cultural Christian ministry). As the Children’s Programs of Hope Centre grew over the past 12 years, so did the desire to offer them a full-time, high-quality Christian education.

The Providence United Reformed Church in Strathroy latched onto this vision and took steps in 2009 to establish a full-time Christian mission school named Hope Academy. The Church Council appointed a Steering Committee including Christians from various parts of Southwestern Ontario who worked hard to set up Hope Academy as a certified school with the Ontario Government, to prepare an excellent curriculum, and to seek Staff, Students, and support. The Steering Committee is now a school board and is busy governing Hope Academy.

We give thanks to the Lord for the Grand Opening of Hope Academy in September 2013.

Testimonials

  • Hope Academy is a school that is a good foundation for your kids' education. In 2012 my son started school in Canada. Coming from another country, he wasn't up to the education level in Canada. He started grade 4 at a Public School and soon the teacher gave notice that he needed help. They gave extra assistance but it still wasn't enough. He was still struggling to learn. When he was going into grade five I found out about Hope Academy from a church friend and decided to give it a try. My husband and I are so happy and thankful that we had made that decision because our son got a lot of help from the teachers and volunteers at Hope Academy. He has improved a lot and was able to get to the level where he needed to be. Our son also learned about the Bible, which he enjoyed a lot. He learned how to believe in himself; that he can be successful in life. There were times in the past that he felt he was only a failure. He graduated from Hope Academy in June 2017 and now is attending a Catholic high school. He is doing well in his school work. He has built up self-confidence and is striving to always succeed in his education. We now have two other kids attending this school and they are receiving the same good educational and Christian foundation. They love attending school every day. Hope Academy is a school I would definitely recommend to any parent for their child(ren).

  • My son was behind in the public school system, especially in math. When I heard about Hope Academy, a small mission school in North Etobicoke, I decided to enrol him there, to see if they could help him to concentrate on his studies, and assist him to catch up to the level he should be at. Teachers and volunteers at the Hope Academy patiently helped him, and gave him the one-on-one attention that he needed. They evidence a Christian commitment to their tasks. Every morning, my son looked forward to getting on the bus, and coming to the school. Although he struggled with distraction, he learned to focus and concentrate. Today, after his graduation from Hope Academy, he is doing well at his new high school. I would recommend Hope Academy as a happy and encouraging place of academic learning, consistent moral support, and high standards.
